Hear from Charlene Marie Muhammad and Marilyn Peppers-Citizen, authors of Yoga in the Black Community, and participate in a chair yoga and mindfulness session.
Learn about the history and cultural significance of yoga and discover how it can be part of the Black community’s journey toward holistic health and well-being. Understand what yoga philosophy and principles have in common with Black cultural and religious practices and discover the benefits of chair yoga and mindfulness practices. No prior yoga experience necessary. We recommend attendees wear loose, comfortable clothing to facilitate light yoga chair stretches and movement. All adults welcome. Book sales offered after the presentation.
