Owings Mills Branch
Owings Mills Meeting Room (Full Room)Lois Lowry talks about her groundbreaking 1993 novel The Giver as a cultural touchstone for generations of adults and looks at its continuing relevance.
In the young adult novel The Giver, Lois Lowry examines the idea that people might freely choose to give up their humanity in order to create a more stable society. Frequently challenged for tackling mature themes, the book won the prestigious Newbery Award in 1994 and is part of the curriculum in schools across the country. Lowry is in conversation with librarian Jamie Watson, our library system's Collection Development department manager. Book sales and signings to follow. Sponsored by Foundation for Baltimore County Public Library.
