Shibori
The Art of Japanese Tie-Dye
Saturday, August 08
1:00pm - 3:00pm
Towson Branch
Wilson Room, Towson RoomLearn the basics of shibori, the technique of folding and binding cloth and dipping it in indigo dye to create beautiful, intricate patterns.
We also explore the history of indigo production and textile patterns originating in West Africa. Attendees may bring one small 100% natural fiber (e.g., cotton, linen, silk) item to dye, such as a T-shirt, or choose one item from our selection of bandanas and tea towels. Indigo stains clothing, so wear clothes you don't mind getting messy. Materials provided.
