In this series of three interactive workshops, learn about disinformation, its impact on your community and our democracy and how to disrupt its spread.
Freedom of speech is protected by the U.S. Constitution, but what does it mean when the speech is misleading...or an outright lie? In these workshops (August 4, 11 and 18), learn about disinformation and propaganda, their impact on communities and democracy and how to disrupt their influence. Discover the science of why falsehoods spread and stick, how to check sources, facts and AI-generated content, and how to better practice civil discourse. In this session, understand the difference between disinformation, propaganda and rumors, how they spread and why we're sometimes fooled by them. Presented by Deanna Troust of Truth in Common. A light meal is provided for participants beginning at 5:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to register for all three weeks.
