Learn about the career and legacy of Anna May Wong, star of many Hollywood films between 1919-1960, including the Red Lantern, Shanghai Express and Lady From Chungking.
Anna May Wong was considered the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood, but she faced many obstacles in her career.
Hosted by Dr. Annette Bochenek, an avid scholar of Hollywood’s Golden Age, this presentation features photos and video clips. Annette manages the Hometowns to Hollywood blog and hosts the Hometowns to Hollywood film series. She has been featured on Turner Classic Movies and is the president of TCM Backlot’s Chicago chapter. She writes for TCM Backlot, Classic Movie Hub, Silent Film Quarterly, Nostalgia Digest and Chicago Art Deco Society magazine.
