Shibori
The Art of Japanese Tie-Dye
Learn the basics of shibori, the technique of folding cloth and dipping it in indigo dye to create beautiful patterns.
We also explore the history of indigo production and textile patterns originating in West Africa. Attendees may bring one small 100% natural fiber (e.g., cotton, linen, silk) item to dye, such as a T-shirt, or choose one item from our selection of bandanas and tea towels. Indigo stains clothing, so wear clothes you don't mind getting messy. All materials provided. Space is limited; first come, first served.
