Picturing Past & Present is an initiative that enables participants to submit a series of three photos that represent an individual's family history and will be digitized and presented publicly.
The Jewish Museum of Maryland (JMM) is calling all who identify as Jewish and have a relationship with Maryland to have their historical and contemporary family photos presented publicly in the museum’s new core exhibition. In addition to the images, participants write a basic description of the images and an explanation of the role of these images in the participant's story. The materials collected will be incorporated into a two-part display, with an ongoing presentation of the submitted photographs and an interactive terminal where visitors can search for names or keywords and explore the entries at their own speed. During this program, a JMM staff member will be able to scan your photos and walk you through the submission process one-on-one to ensure that your family’s story is preserved. Please bring photos to be scanned. Call the Pikesville Branch at 410-887-1234 to register for this event.
