In five presidential elections, the candidate who won the popular vote didn't win the election because the Electoral College chose someone else. How is this possible? What is the Electoral College?

John McTague, professor of political science at Towson University, discusses the origin and evolution of the Electoral College and its role and impact in American democracy, as well as its relevance today and possible alternatives to this system.
